Cub Scout Pack 227 is located in Huntington Beach, California and chartered by St. Bonaventure Church. It was founded in 1967 and currently has over 75 boys and girls. It is a very active pack that participates in a number of activities throughout the year including camping, fishing, horseback riding and, of course, the perennial favorite Pinewood Derby! The pack also engages in service projects that help St. Bonaventure Church and the larger community.
Every year the pack selects one charitable organization for which to raise money. It does so in order to instill in our youth the importance of providing service to others. This is in keeping with the Scout Law whose tenets include “A Scout is helpful” and “A Scout is kind”. This year the pack chose CDCN because it wants to bring attention to the local community to this rare but deadly disease. By raising awareness and funds, Pack 227 hopes that in its own small way it can contribute to increasing research and treatment of Castleman’s Disease.
